History/Literature Week of January 4th-8th

 I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

 This week in history we will be finishing up our project of "the Prophets of God",We will create a Greek coin for Sparta, explore some of the great thinkers of Ancient Greece, and complete some research on the Roman Republic.

We will be reading and discussing chapter 5 & 6.

ELA - Week of January 4th-8th

This week we will review the sentences we have done in the Practice Island book. There will be a test  over the first 10 sentences on Thursday the seventh.
Note: They will receive a Spelling Tic Tac Toe paper for their spelling activities this week.

Draw and color a picture. Hide the spelling words inside your picture.
Create fractions to represent the number of vowels and consonants in each word.
Example: friend
Vowels =2/6

Write the words in reverse ABC order
Make an acrostic poem with each spelling word.
Example: read

Elephant
Ant
Dog

Write the words and then write at least 2 words made from each.     
Example: friend

Write the spelling words in the form of shapes. You can use more than one word to make a shape.
Write a question for each of the spelling words. Underline or highlight the spelling words.

Math for Week of December 14-18, 2015

ELA - Week of 12/14/2015

This week we will start Practice Island.
Spelling words must be written in cursive. Students can make up their own 3 spelling activities. They must be 3 different activities using all the words. (There are only 7 words this week)

Spelling and Vocabulary
 1 .     agora – market place

3.     assembly -  a lawmaking body of a country made up of citizens
4.     citizen  -  legal member of a country

It is hard to believe that the Christmas Holidays are upon us. I pray that you enjoy your Christmas Holidays with your family and friends. May God bless your time with them!

ELA - Week of December 7th

Looking forward to the Christmas Program on the 10th.


This week we will label sentences in four different ways. We will finish our "Grammar Island" book and start "Practice Island".  " Practice Island " is just labeling sentences.

After Christmas, all the spelling test will be in cursive.

Spelling words for the week. Words must be written 3 times each night in cursive.This week the spelling activity is to write four words a night in "fa different style." Examples are bubble letters, dot letters, paint the words,  or make one big letter and put all four words in that letter. They can be creative. Two nights they will need to do the activity with 5 words.


  1.     air raids- attacks by aircraft, especially on non- military targets
  2.     blue-bottle - a type of flying insect with a blue body
  3.     enormous – huge
  4.     faun – half man- half goat with horns, ears, legs, and a tail like a goat
  5.      inquisitive - eager for knowledge; curious
  6.     looking-glass- a mirror
  7.     lamppost – street light
  8.      mothballs - small, Styrofoam-like balls containing chemicals to keep moths away from clothing in storage
  9.      muffler - a scarf worn around the neck for warmth
 10.  parcels - packages queer strange or unusual row a disturbance or quarrel
 11. queer – strange or unusual
 12. row – disturbance or quarrel
 13. wardrobe - a large, cabinet-like piece of furniture which serves as a closet

 14. wireless - a radio without wires or cords


History/ Literature Week of 12/7/15

As we finish History Pocket 5, we will have fun writing our  own mix-up myth.  We will discover why Israel and Judah Fall, and learn about the Prophets of God.
