In Chemistry, we are learning about Mixtures - two or more substances that are combined (not chemically) and keep their physical properties; mixtures can be separated.

Heterogeneous mixtures have substances that are different from each other (salad, trail mix, "nuts and bolts" collections, for example).

Homogeneous mixtures have substances that are uniformly mixed, such as salt water.  This kind of mixture can be separated but not as easily.

We will experiment with both kinds of mixtures this week.  On Thursday, November 19, we will put together and separate  heterogeneous and homogeneous mixtures.
