ELA - Week of 11/30

In ELA this week, we will be designing a magic ring and writing a story to go along with the illustration. We will identify simple and compound sentences, and practicing labeling sentences.


This week when writing the spelling words 3X - must write them in cursive.
Pick three of the following activities to be turned in on Friday Dec.4

• Write the constants in red and the vowels in blue for each spelling word
• Roll and Spell  for each spelling word - roll a die for each word. If the die lands on  

                         one - write the word in red

                         two - write the word in orange

                         three- write the word in yellow

                         four - write the word in green

                         five - write the word in blue

                         six - write the word in purple

• Write a silly sentence for each word - underline the spelling words
• Scramble the word and have a parent or sibling solve and sign the paper
• Draw cars on a race track. Put a spelling word on each car.
• Pendulum Words - write the words forward than backwards then forward again
•  Write the words with dots on the letters

Spelling and Vocabulary Words
v empress  - a female emperor

v naughty – disobedient

v nuisance – a person or thing causing inconvenience or annoyance

v corridor – a long passage in a building from which doors lead into rooms

v hansom – a type of a two wheeled horse drawn carriage

v dabble -  to take part in an activity in a casual way

v scrape – a difficult predicament caused by one’s own unwise behavior

v peril  - immediate danger

v alter – to change

v indignant – annoyed at something unjust or wrong

v apparent – seeming real or true—but not necessarily so

v enclosure – an area that is sealed off with an artificial or natural barrier

v diligently  - constant in effort to accomplish something

v merciful – compassionate

v alighted – to settle or stay after descending

v enchanted – spell or delighted
