ELA Week of 11/2-11/6

The spelling test along with the activities will be due on 11/10/15.

Spelling and Vocabulary Words
Week 12 – Nov.10th
1.    1. muddle – jumble , to cause to become mentally
 confused.
2. rubble – broken bits and pieces
3. torture – to inflict sever pain on someone as a      punishment
4. puzzled - confused
5. vague - unclear
6. guinea pig – a person or thing used as a subject for an experiment
7. aghast –filled with horrid or shock
8 stifle– suffocate – hard to breathe
9. quiver –to shake with a slight but rapid motion, tremble
10. practical - reasonable
11.oath – to keep a promise
12. splendid – magnificent  
13.solemn – serious or sober expression
14. horrid –extremely unpleasant or disagreeable

15. chivalry  – qualities of an ideal knight -  courage, honor, courtesy, justice, and readiness to help the weak

Activities: Must write words 3x each every night.
Please choose 3 of activities below:
(1) Write your spelling words in forms of shapes. You can use more than one word to make a shape.
(2)  Write your words in a secret code.  Make a list of the alphabet and assign a shape, number or symbol by each letter. Then use that code to write your words. 
(3) Write your spelling words by adding one letter at a time.
       Example:  s
                        sp
                        spe
                        spel
                        spell
(4) Write your spelling words in your best cursive handwriting.
(5) Write your words and then write at least 2 words made from each word.
       Example:  friend
                         dine
                          end
                         die
                           rid



This week in Grammar we will identify direct objects, indirect objects, and subject complements.
