ELA - Week of January 18th - 22nd

"Practice Island" - We will work on the next ten sentences and review for the test that will be on Monday January 25. We will complete sentences 21-30 pages 32-40.
Spelling Words:
     1.      dodging -  avoiding
     2.      token – something to show identity
     3.      trifle – something that has little  value or importance
     4.      dunce – a very stupid person
     5.      turret – a small tower
     6.      cat –a – mountains – mountain lions
     7.      centaur – half man, half horse
     8.      gloating – felling very satisfied and superior
     9.      eerie – spooky
    10.  cordial – medicine
    11.  plaguey – bothersome
    12.  frowsty - messy

Complete three activities following the rules of tic-tac-toe (three in a row.) Make an “X” on each box that you complete. All activities are due on Friday. Staple all three activities to this sheet.
Spelling Words: dodging, token, trifle, dunce, turret, cat –a – mountains, centaur, gloating, eerie, cordial, plaguey, frowsty

 Choo-Choo Words
Write the entire list of words end-to-end as one long word, using a different colored color pencil for each word

Write the spelling words in reverse order.
Flower Power Spelling
Draw a flower garden picture. Put 1 spelling word on each petal or flower.
Be Creative!
Write spelling words all in capital letters.
Write your spelling words like you normally do. Then write your words with the other hand.
Criss-Cross Words
Write two of the spelling words that have a common letter so that they criss –cross. Use all the spelling words!
Perimeter
Write your words on graph paper and the find the perimeter of each word.
Go to puzzlemaker.com and create a puzzle. Be sure to print out the puzzle.
Write a story using all of the words. Underline the spelling words.
