HISTORY/ LITERATURE/ ELA WEEK OF 2/15-2/19

HISTORY: This week we will be using maps to discuss Nehemiah's Journey and Alexander the Great.


LITERATURE: We are starting a new book! "Detectives in Togas"



We will be reading and discussing Chapters 1 & 2

ELA:  In Practice Island - we will work on sentences 41-48.

Spelling words for the week: 

 1.    detective -  an investigator whose function is to obtain information and evidence to solve crimes
 2.    toga – the loose outer ferment worn by citizens in public (in ancient Rome.)
 3.    fracas -  noisy fight
 4.    consternation dismay; sudden dread that results in confusion
 5.    infuriated - greatly angered
 6.    stragglers- lingerers
 7.    patrician – member of noble Roman Family
 8.    soothsayer - fortune teller
 9.    involuntary  - without intention
 10.                       unkempt = neglected, messy

 NO Spelling Tic Tac Toe  this week. However, the words must be written 3 times each - each night.

I would like for students to spend time on their project for  "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe."  This project is worth 2 Test Grades. This project cannot be thrown together at the last minute.
