HISTORY/ LITERATURE/ ELA WEEK OF FEBRUARY 22

Box Tops are due February 25th

HISTORY:  This week we will discover the Architectural advances in Rome and how Rome became a world power. We will look at Julius Caesar and Caesar Augustus.
LITERATURE: We are starting a new book! "Detectives in Togas"


We will be reading and discussing Chapters 3

ELA:  In Practice Island - we will work on sentences 50-53.
***Test Wednesday 2/24**** Sentences #41,43,45,47 and 49

SPELLING:
***Note: The spelling test will be Thursday 2/25.***
Please work this week on the spelling words so that they will be ready by Thursday.

Spelling and Vocabulary
   1.    punctual – on time
   2.    burglar – breaking into and entering the house of another with         the intent to steal
   3.    assaulted -  sudden violent attack
   4.    shudder –to tremble with fear
   5.    considerable- notably large in size
   6.    cautious- careful
   7.    suffocate – to prevent the access of air
   8.    muffled – to wrap with something to deaden sound

   10.                       pry – to separate with difficulty
   11.                       dynasty – a ruling family
   12.                       fortified – built strong to resist attack
   13.                       invasion – large scale attach
   14.                       peninsula  - a stretch of land surrounded by water                                on 3 sides
