ELA - Week of October 5th - October 9th

ELA -This week we will add adverbs to the mix. We will still be working with the parts of speech. By the end of this week, we will have learned  5 of the 8 parts.  Nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. 

Spelling/ Vocabulary words:

1. radiant – glowing brightly

2. terrific – extremely good

3. journey – traveling from one place to another

4. aeronaut – balloonist pilot of a balloon

5. monotonous – lacking in variety; boring

6. duty – something that one is expected to do

7. reputation – good name, commonly held opinion

                       of person’s character

8. modest - humble

9. confident – self assured

10. distinguish – to treat someone or something as

                           different, to tell apart

 The spelling list is glued in their notebook. Words will be written 3 times each every night Monday-Thursday. The other activities are in addition to writing the words.
Homework: 
Monday: Put words in ABC order
Due by Friday:
1) Find the value of the words.  Consonants =5 and vowels = 3  Example: cat = 5+5+3 =13 
2) Choose: (A) Pick 7 words and complete 4 square words or  (B)Write a story using 7 words
